Our Activities

Although the Covid-19 issue has affected the budget situation and has not been able to implement the program in accordance with the full Aredoc plan, the main activities need to be carried out successfully as expected. Also, to the purpose of the program, the results include:

Number of beneficiaries, teachers and priority schools

The program has directly benefited 2,500 children, including 1,270 girls in the 2020- 2021 school year. It should be noted that Aredoc will be able to support only 2,500 beneficiaries from 2020 onwards, which will reduce the number of beneficiaries in some schools and some schools may be completed from project as well.

To maximize the program to support children and schools and to align with the organization’s available budget, the organization’s new focus will be on schools. Only 10 priorities will be from 2021 onwards. Narrowing Priority Limits The program will be able to recruit all the children in a school 100% to ensure that all children in a school benefit from the program for everyone and provide better cooperation from project stakeholders. Priorities also include increasing the attention paid to principals, teachers and the community for the education of children.

Priority school consolidation is a new strategy of support and quality improvement programs and child support programs that focus on providing program benefits to the maximum number of children in a school with the active participation of program partners in implementation. The program aims to share the goals of school principals, teachers and the community in educating children.

Priority school is primarily determined by the quality of a school’s collaboration, with principals, teachers, and the community essential to ensuring that the program is easy to implement and that it achieves its goals. Priority schools will continue to be a long-term partner, enabling Aredoc to continue to recruit children to the maximum number of programs that can reach 100% of the total number of children in the school within the actual budget each year.

Priority schools are identified based on actual work experience between Aredoc and partner schools in the past, plus feedback from the organization’s coordinating agency, which often works closely with partner schools. As a result, the program will reduce the number of schools in the program to the number of priority schools to continue to work together to increase program effectiveness and benefit children in line with Aredoc’s budget.

However, the program continues for children who have participated in previous programs until they have successfully completed primary school.

Increase the enrollment rate of children through the campaign to ensure the recruitment of children

Every year, Aredoc leads and coordinates with all partner schools in implementing the Child Enrollment Campaign, which is part of increasing the enrollment rate and keeping the enrollment rate as high as possible. For the upcoming school year 2020-2021, Aredoc led a campaign to ensure the enrollment of children in February 2021, with the active participation of 10 primary schools to promote and ensure the enrollment of children Everyone after the school was closed due to the Covid-19 problem in the past. 9 The campaign was led by Aredoc and 10 partner primary schools in Traing district, Takeo province, with leaflets on enrollment dates and tuk-tuks in 32 villages. At the same time, the 10 primary schools advertise on the spot and visit the community based on the backyard map.

Promote reading and writing

Through teacher capacity building programs

Aredoc has contributed to the promotion of children’s reading and writing through a program to strengthen the capacity of 146 teachers in 10 primary schools: Prey Pha Av, Prey Pha E, Trapaing Thom, Srey Sith, Samor, Daun Pheu, Ang Speu, Phoum Kor, Preah Theat and Kraing Chheu Nieng Primary school.

This training was conducted by recruiting and developing a team of 7 technical teachers to provide reading and writing training to 146 teachers, which took place in 7 school locations every Thursday, the fourth week of each month. With a maximum of 25 participants in each class. Before each training session, the technical team held a technical meeting every second week of each month under the coordination of the chairperson of Ang Speu and Prey Phaer series, representatives of Traing district education office and representatives of human resource management office of Takeo district. Through this program, 146 teachers receive regular training and discussions every month to improve teaching and learning techniques for themselves as well as for more than 2,500 children.

Aredoc has contributed to some of the activities to the best of its ability as a contribution to the efforts of the Royal Government and the Ministry of Health of Cambodia in preventing and preventing the Covid-19 outbreak during 2021.

Major activities contributed by Aredoc during the Covid-19 outbreak include:

  • Participate in improving food safety in emergencies for 120 vulnerable families in Traing district, Takeo province, as a reserve food and some biosafety equipment, each family receives 1 bag of rice, 1 bag of noodles, 12 cans of fish, 2 cans 2 liters of alcohol, 8 bars of soap and 2 cans of alcohol. These gifts gave the families a happy smile by receiving a degree of resolution during difficult times during an epidemic, as at least this gift was enough to supply food for a month in particular.   • Improve safety in preventing Covid-19 transmission of 10 primary schools. Through this activity, each school received 2 automatic alcohol thermometers and sprayers, 10 liters of alcohol and 20 bottles of alcohol spray.
  • Enhance children’s home study during school holidays by providing Khmer textbooks and maths to 2,500 children at each grade level.

Contribute to preventing and preventing the spread of Covid-19

Strengthen the promotion rate and the presence of children by providing study materials

Aredoc provides educational materials to help alleviate the burden on children’s families’ education costs, to strengthen their children’s grades and presence in school, as well as to enable their children to complete higher education. To prevent and reduce dropout rates as well.

In 2021, 2,500 children received school supplies for the 2021-2022 school year, with each child receiving six books, four pens, two pencils and two erasers. Separately, 1,000 young children, especially newly enrolled children, also received one bag. The offer is made in 10 primary schools through Aredoc Child Advocacy Agency in direct collaboration with all partner schools in the December 2021 program.

In the school year 2020-2021, Aredoc also provided these study materials to 2,500
children in all programs (1,230 females), the results of which are noted as follows:

  • The enrollment rate of 2,500 children who received school supplies at the end of the 2020-2021 school year was as high as 97.16%, which is considered a high rate in the past. The general promotion rate in Takeo is 88.8% and the national rate is 85.7%.
  • The repetition rate is still only 2.28%, which is almost the lowest rate for disadvantaged rural schools. The general overlap rate in Takeo is 9.0% and the national rate is 7.0%.
  • Throwing rate was only 0.56%, indicating that local children had the lowest dropout rates. The general overlap rate in Takeo is 2.2% and the national rate is 7.3%

Improve school health and hygiene

In a spirit of contribution to improving the quality of education, especially during the Covid-19 period, Aredoc aims to improve school health and hygiene through the development of automatic, solar-powered water supply networks to ensure the well-being of children, teachers and the community. Areas with adequate water supply, especially for sanitation, to prevent Covid-19 in schools. The project starts from drilling large wells of 140-150 cm, 60 meters deep, which can provide 2 to 4 cubic meters of water per hour without drying out. Construction of a 10,000 cubic meter water tank stand and installation of solar panels to power solar pump motors.

11 In 2021, Aredoc developed two solar-powered water supply wells: Trapeang Thom Primary School in Roneam Commune and Srey Sith Primary School in Khvav Commune, Traing District, Takeo Province. These two solar wells are for the two schools, as well as the pagoda and the community around the school, to be used freely under the supervision and maintenance of the Trapeang Thom and Srey Sith Primary School Committees. At the same time, Trapeang Thom and Srey Sith Primary Schools organized a forum for children and the community on health and hygiene, protection and management and use of water from these two solar wells.
